How To Get Motivated To Workout

Some people love the feelings that come with working out; they actually look forward to it. Others workout because they’re driven to be at their best.

If that’s not you, you can change your mindset and get to that stage.

Motivation problems exist when you don’t have solid reasons as to why you want to workout.

Everyone wants to get fit, put on muscle or lose weight.

But if you don’t enjoy the process and have real reasons for it, you’ll struggle.

 How To Deepen Your Motivation

Do these and you’ll be exercising all the time:

1) Enjoy working out
2) Add depth to your motivation

 1) Enjoy Working Out

 Remove Expectations (initially)

If you’re starting out on the treadmill, don’t expect to be able to go for 20 minutes.

You might only be able to handle 2 minutes of jogging before you need to take it down to a walk. That’s absolutely fine. Do not compare yourself to anyone else.

All your sessions should be manageable. Build them slowly over time.

Manageable = Fun

Embrace The Feelings of Working Out

Whether you’re doing cardio or pumping weights, embrace how it feels.

Those feelings are signs that you’re getting stronger and fitter.

As you get out of breath, realise that your heart and lungs are becoming stronger.

When your legs start to burn, you’re burning more calories.

Do not shy away from workout pains. Those feelings mean you’re becoming a better version of yourself

2) Add Depth To Your Motivation

Educate Yourself On The Benefits Of Working Out

Check these out:

  • Boost your happiness levels (yes this will actually happen!)
  • Relieve massive amounts of stress and negativity
  • Live longer
  • Higher daily energy levels
  • Boost your self-confidence

You’d have to be mad not to want those things!

They will make a big difference to your life.

Once you begin working out and seeing the benefits, motivation grows rapidly

Strive To Be The Best Version of YOU

Don’t feel the need to workout just because others are, so you want to be part of the crowd. Don’t do it to impress anyone either.

Those are flimsy reasons that will eventually fail you.

Do it for yourself.

Looking after yourself, feeling good and being at your best should be at the very centre of all your motivation

Looking good to impress others should only be a small part of the bigger picture.

A good physique / healthy body is a symbol of hard work, dedication, and self-respect. Those are values that you should want for yourself

Get excited about it! Every workout gets you one step closer to a healthier, happier you.
